Mars Ambassador Program Update

Each year our Mars Drinks associates have the opportunity to apply for the Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) and if they are lucky to be chosen they get the chance to visit one of our coffee or tea projects anywhere in the world.

This year John Staughton, UK Food Service Manager and Ralph Francis, UK Distributor Manager from Mars Drinks UK were fortunate enough to be chosen and to travel to El Salvador. Their role was to work alongside World Coffee Research (WCR) understanding how intricate the coffee process is, from growing the coffee plant right through to roasting the beans and finally tasting the product.

Coffee rust is the biggest killer of coffee plants and WCR work with coffee farmers to help understand what causes coffee rust and are trying to find a solution to eliminate the problem. MAP ambassadors also understand what they and Mars Drinks can do to support WCR with this project. As part of the visit they will visit Hogar Inmaculado Corazon de Maria orphanage, a charity we support in El Salvador and how the money we raise is spent there.

This year the money raised has helped to provide clean running water at the orphanage and we are happy to announce work is underway to provide this. Every ambassador is proud to represent Mars Drinks and are thankful to Mars Drinks for providing such a fantastic opportunity for their associate’s year on year.
