Marathon achievement for Mars Drinks

Posted at 17:18 in News Room : Mars Team news

All of us here at Mars Drinks would like to offer huge congratulations to our team members John Bell and Kevin Richardson for taking part in this year’s London Marathon.

In between all their hard work in the coffee vending world they trained hard to raise some much needed funds for charity.

They joined 36,000 others taking part in the epic marathon around London. Despite having just run an astounding 26 miles, the pair was in high spirits when they completed the race in fantastic times. It was Kevin’s second time running the London Marathon and he finished in 4 hours 20 mins. For John it was his first marathon and he finished in 5 hours 9 mins. Both John and Kevin would like to thank all those that showed their support by sponsoring them.

With monies still coming in, Kevin has raised £1550 for the Micro & Anophthalmic Children’s Society (MACS) which helps blind and visually impaired children and their families. Kevin was inspired to raise money for this cause as his daughter suffers from Microphthalmia. MACS does exceptional work in helping families to lead normal lives by providing emotional support and valuable information. MACS also supplies equipment and information to both patients and professionals about the rare conditions.

So far John has raised £819.20 and the money is still rolling in! John has chosen to support The British Heart Foundation which operates a number of campaigns in order to fund research and offer support for people with heart disease. The charity is currently in the middle of a campaign to make sure that heart and circulatory disease is high on the agenda of political parties in the run up to the election.

So our two heroic team members have so far managed to raise over £2,369 - and counting - for two very worthy causes. We’re so proud of all their hard work and training and will definitely be treating them to a well earned coffee or two!
